Extra Curricular

Cookery ClubEstcourt has a daily Breakfast Club which is open from 8.00am. A breakfast of cereal and toast with fruit juice is served after which the children have chance to play a variety of games. Doors close at 8.20am and the children go to class at 8.40am.

We offer a range of After School Clubs each term. These run in 5 week cycles so that we can offer the activities to as many children as possible. It also allows us to change the activities on offer so there is always something of interest.

Clubs take place on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from the end of school until 4pm. Activities on offer usually include Climbing Club, Football, Drama, Film Club,Craft Club, Cooking Club and Glee Club. Details of the current clubs on offer are sent out half termly.

Music

Specialist music teachers help us provide high quality music experiences. All children in Key Stage 2 learn to play a musical instrument, with some learning a second instrument, with the opportunity to take music exams. Currently the Key Stage children are learning to play the glockenspiel with small groups also learning the clarinet or percussion. Whole school singing takes place each week, with Musical Concerts at Christmas and in the Summer.

Diane Blanchard Art Competition

The school holds an Annual Art Competition in the summer term. This is open to all children who can enter any work in any medium for consideration. A shortlist is drawn up by the school council, with the family of Diane Blanchard, who was one of our Teaching Assistants, making the final judgements. Prizes are offered for the best entries in Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 with an overall winner drawn from all entries.

Judith Hill Writing Competition

This award is made to someone whose work has shown marked improvement across the year and who produces a high quality piece of writing in the summer term. The competition is named after a long-serving member of staff who gave a cup on her retirement.

Christopher Walker Prizes for Maths, Reading and Writing

These prizes have been donated by a former School Governor and his son and are awarded to individual pupils on a termly basis in recognition of exceptional progress and effort.
